In ISo8 Erasmus completely reworked the Adagia for the Aldine press, increasing the number of adages from 838 to 3260 and greatly ex-panding the commentary. The first item in this enlarged folio volume is Amicorum communia omnia, a Pythagorean precept taken from the same passage in Jerome already cited. The second item is Amicitiae ae-qualitas.
